At Larchfield Primary & Nursery School we ensure that all children are valued equally, regardless of their abilities and/or social, emotional, communication or behavioural needs.
We understand that many pupils will have special educational needs at some time during their school life and that the best way of helping them is for everyone involved to work together using a process of asses, plan, do, review. Our teachers, learning support assistants, and lunchtime supervisors are dedicated to all our children, including our children with SEND.
We believe that all children should have the opportunity to develop to their full potential. The school understands that individuals are unique in their interest, abilities, motivation and learning needs, and these are met through a varied curriculum, with suitable adaptations and support where this is needed. Teachers provide learning opportunities for all the pupils within the school environment and provide materials appropriate to pupils’ interests and abilities. We work hard to ensure that children’s individualised learning needs are met through working with a range of professionals and listening to their recommendations for each child.
The school meets the needs of children in the following areas: Communication and interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social, Emotional and Mental health and Sensory /physical. The school provides a graduated response to each child, dependent on the level of need.
You will find in this section of our website our school's SEN policy, along with other documents that we hope you find useful, as well as links to various websites that may be able to provide support to you and your family. This includes a link to The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead's Local Offer where you can search for advice, services and organisations, as well as links to local charities.
