Larchfield Primary and Nursery School

Our children are central to all that we do.

Pat Lattimer

I was first a governor at Furze Platt senior school while my now very grown up children were pupils there.  I was delighted, therefore, some 13 years ago to be invited to become a governor at Larchfield.  I became Chair of Governors in 2014.  It’s been a privilege to be part of the Larchfield school family.

The Chair is elected annually by the governors.  In that role I sit on each sub-committee and chair the full governing body meetings.  Governors are involved collectively in the strategic decisions affecting the school.  Very occasionally in urgent circumstances, the Chair is required to make quick individual decisions which are reported back swiftly to all governors.  All governors take the lead in particular areas of responsibility on behalf of the governing body.  Currently I am lead on Safeguarding.

My paid working life ended when I retired after 30 years working in the local Citizens Advice Service, including 16 years as manager of the Maidenhead service.   However, I continue to enjoy being involved in local voluntary sector activities including being a Trustee for a local charity.
