Larchfield Primary and Nursery School

Our children are central to all that we do.

MHST programme and Wellbeing resources

At Larchfield we know that our children's emotions and emotional health are important and have invested in learning more about how to support our children with their emotions.

We have become an Attachment Aware school following a year long project and are involved in the Mental Health in Schools project, lucky to have an Emotional Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) working with us. We run Nurture groups throughout the year for some of our children and have an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) - our lovely Miss Dean, who is also our Family Support Worker and a trained Nurture Practitioner. Our second ELSA - Mrs Wells supports children when we do not have an afternoon nursery.

We also have a link Educational Psychologist (EP) through the borough's 'Buy Back' service who supports the school and have access to 'Wellbeing Practitioners' through the Early Help referral system in the borough, as well support from the borough's Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) team.

We receive many useful guides that we feel would benefit our parents too, so have created this area on our website to share information with you. We hope that you find something in the guides or on the links to recommended websites useful.

If you are concerned about your child's emotional health and wellbeing, please do talk to us, either your child's class teacher, our school's SENCO and Inclusion Lead (Mrs Scawn), or our Nurture/ELSA lead (Miss Dean).
