Larchfield Primary and Nursery School

Our children are central to all that we do.

Associate Member - Joanne Tydeman

I have lived in Maidenhead for 36 years with my husband, Derek, having grown up just across the river in Bourne End.

My two children attended Alwyn and Courthouse schools followed by Desborough and Newlands.

I have been, and still am, a volunteer reader for Year 6 at Larchfield school. I started this role four years ago. Reading with the Year 6 children is very rewarding as they improve throughout the school year, and develop in confidence whatever their reading abilities.

I have also helped at the recent school Christmas lunch and the trip to the pantomime in Windsor, which gave me the opportunity to meet teachers and pupils from other year groups in a more informal setting.

I left full time working in 2014 and have worked since then as an independent training consultant. My career has been working in law enforcement and central government organisations, where I have developed and delivered national and international training courses.

As well as being a keen reader myself, I volunteered in the children’s section at Maidenhead library for five years on Saturday mornings. I currently volunteer at the Cliveden second hand bookshop, enjoy walking my dog and singing in a local choir. I also enjoy travelling and I am fortunate to have worked overseas in many interesting places, experiencing different cultures.
