Breaking Boundaries - Spring Topic in Year 4
We have just started our new topic in Year 4. We are examining how the Tudor period was a great example of breaking boundaries and changing the lives and experiences of everyone in the country.
We are looking forward to the coming weeks and seeing even more amazing learning!
What an amazing return to our Year 4 writing!
The children have spent time in class reading different information texts and learning about Henry VII, the first Tudor king. They have produced their own wonderful non-fiction texts about him and have really learnt how proud they can be of their hard work!
Sounds of Science
In science this term, we are learning about Sound. So far we have had an amazing time discovering how sound vibrations make things move. From making water jump out of a cup, to watching patterns form from salt, the classroom has been filled with oohs and aaahs on a Friday afternoon.
We had a fun filled day creating our wintery scene.
First we collected sticks which we used to create our background, before making our snowmen out of socks and rice or seeds filler.
Our clouds are poems we wrote about winter.
It's been an explosive couple of weeks as Year 4 have been reading about Escape from Pompeii in English and learning about Volcanoes in Topic.
Having studied how they're made and having created their own in topic, the unit ended with Year 4 investigating what chemical reaction occurs when bicarbonate of soda is mixed with vinegar.
The result was lots of squeals of delight!
